I majored in journalism in early 1970. I studied famous journalist and how they would ferret out the truth. I thought of a journalist as a noble profession. One that would keep truth alive and well.
What happened? Journalist were not to have any agenda other than truth. Objectivity was brow beat into us as we trained to take on this noble profession. Journalist were to be above petty politics and greed. They were to be on "the line" fighting for truth and justice.
Today, we see talking head. And when I say "heads" I mean that physically. You have to be dark and handsome, or a bimbo blond to get to be a journalist on television. Oh, and great reading skills so that you can read a TelePrompter. That's it. A puppet. Controlled by whoever is paying the tab. A prostitute, the oldest profession in stead of a noble profession. Celebrity status is the goal. Period. No one cares to be known for morality or principal, truth or justice. We must be entertained......The United States of Entertainment.
This "legacy" leads to destruction of our society. As has been demonstrated in history, when principals are abandoned for instant gratification, the society begins its downward spiral. Whether you are an atheist, or believe in Intelligent Design, this fact remains the same. Anyone is a fool if they ignore history.
Random rantings from a common sense approach to social issues. Still clinging to my guns and my religion, I am trying to understand the universal laws of a civilized society. As a descendant of five generations of Texans, I have a strong legacy bred into me of individual freedom and independent living.
About Me
- Cinco Texan
- Descendant of patriots who have fought from the Civil war to WWII, planters who carved out my heritage in the plains of central Texas since 1850. From teacher to business owner, I have a strong personal heritage and concern for the United States, its past and future.

Stand Firm For Our Natural Right As Individuals
Americans are standing the pinnacle of a major shift for this country. I believe that this is one of the most crucial test for our founding documents and principals in the United States. But what is mainly at risk is our individualism.
Individualism has been the light that has summoned people from around the world to want to come to the United States. No matter what race or culture, every human is different. DNA proves that. That means we are innately "individuals". With that fact alone, the greatest society that we can aspire to would be one that celebrates our individualism. That was the vision our founding fathers held dear, a place where every individual was able to pursue his unique talents and thoughts without infringing on anyone else.
So the Constitution was written with this universal belief, that we needed to create a safe place for individuals to thrive and prosper. Along with the belief of freedom was the belief that we are individually accountable for our own life. This is where it gets tough. We are free, but responsible, accountable.
People find that being accountable is hard, so we start looking for someone else to be accountable for us.....well not for everything, but just the issues that we really struggle with. When this happens, there are always shrewd people ready to step in a take that accountability, but at a cost. This happens so quietly, subtly, that it is painless, and we rationalize that we couldn't have made it without this help.
Next major problems pops up.....okay, we need a little help again. But we have so much to do, this issue can be handled by someone else (insert government). Once this cycle begins, it is like a drug addiction. We start surrendering little by little, until we are in the gutter, and powerless.
Humans were not wired to be a collective group, so this system will never work. No matter how many Ivy League degrees a person may have, he will never create a statist government that works. Humans are not made to be equal. Remember our DNA? The state may take away books, guns, and food....but somehow those that seek this power over others eventually fall. Unfortunately, before they fall they bring much misery and grief to the society they try to control.
America's only hope is the individual. We must not be distracted by partisan rhetoric or enticing words that rationalize giving up our individual freedoms and accountability. We must stay strong and focused while we work to insure the Constitution of the United States remains in place so that our individuality is celebrated and embraced. We owe that to our children, and their children. Our choices are not liberal or conservative, Republican or Democrat, socialist or capitalist, but American.

Mr. President, Please Take Your Job Seriously
When did our own Congress and President become the enemy? When did thousands of Americans go to such extremes to get the Federal government to listen to them? Why do they refuse to hear?
Americans are generally happy, content people. What is going on that would make our own government pass stealth bills that they don't read, and do not want us to read? Why would our President ignore his troops and generals in favor of making a play for an Olympic bid for Chicago.
Obama is the President of "all" of the US....not just "Chicago". The corruption and cronyism in Washington and surrounding the President will not end well. My plea to the President is to stop playing this game. Mr. President, you are the most powerful person on this planet....act like it. Step up to the responsibilities that are demanded of you and your position. Keep us safe! Keep us prosperous. Protect our children. That is your job. Your job is not to "change" our country, but to keep it going and keep it strong.
Mr. President, smooth rhetoric and acting like you care about the poor and down trodden will not make this country strong. Your community organizing days are over. Now, you have all Americans to represent, and keep safe.
Flying around the world with the jet set partying is fine for those who have nothing better to do. But you actually have been entrusted with real responsibilities. My family is one of those responsibilities, so I expect you to take your job seriously. I expect you to know what is going on around you. I expect you to make wise, informed decisions based on facts. I expect you to re-act when the people of your country have concerns. I expect you to take the moral high ground.
You are our symbol to the world. Maybe you didn't want this awesome responsibility. Or maybe you didn't realize how important this position would be. Maybe your jobs in the past were only based on smooth talk and your charming presence, but now you are the President of the United States of America, and as such much is expected of you. More than talk, we need action. We need courage, we need character. We do not need you to be a "character". Please take this job seriously. Our enemies are watching.
