Haiti...A Time to Question Faith?

When natural disasters happen and thousands of innocents are killed as in Haiti, humans are once again confronted with the dilemna of why a caring Supreme Creator would allow this to happen.  Atheist use these events to prove there is no Creator.

Thoughtful people have to think and question their own faith.  Some believe that God controls all that happens on this planet.  Some even believe that he pre-determines all of our lives and we have no free will.  Others believe that God created our planet and natural laws and then turned it over to humans to choose how to use it and how to live.   If that is true, then maybe we have our answer.  God did not cause or control this disaster any more than he causes us to choose a red or blue car.  But having created humans, he in some DNA connection, can effect how we think and respond to our own decisions as experiences unfold in our personal lives.  And if we ask for His wisdom, He sends it to each one of us personally as needed.  This is based on faith....untangible, unscientific, non-provable.

Each of us has to look for his own answers.  Unfortunately, some people use ugly negative stereotypes of Christians and those who turn to the Bible for comfort, thus ending any quest that might lead hurting people to the time tested comfort available there.  No human has the absolute answers.  All are theories based on the faith one chooses to follow.  Even no belief in a Creator is based on faith.

Many churches and Christians who participate in rituals that they control in the organization of their specific church cause others to reject Christ and the bibical wisdom found there.   Unfortunately, in history and in many countries today, certain groups of people have not had the ability or resources to learn and study for themselves, and have had to rely on men telling them who God is.   The information given is no better than the human delivering the message.  But in the larger scheme, man has an innate personal connection to the Creator, and he has the free will to choose good or evil.

Why do tragedies such as Haiti happen?  Other than scientific explanations of natures law's, we have no answer.  The spiritual answers are much more complex and harder to find.  May those who were killed, survived, grieve, and go to help find their place of peace and courage to deal with this disaster.

A VOTER'S RESPONSIBILITY

I am frustrated with the current system of government and how it is run by the bureaucrats' in Washington, DC. Those who have studied
American History know that this is not how our government was meant to run. I have been guilty of enjoying the good life that we
as Americans have, and ignoring politicians and their slow grab for more and more power that takes away power from the citizens.
America was set up to be a Citizen Government. It had checks and balances as the founders understood that a greedy power hungry group of people who think they are above the rest of the citizenry would prevail if allowed to operate without the checks and balances instilled in the Constitution of the United States of America.

A person may not be much to look at, he may not be able to talk smoothly and charmingly in front of a crowd, but he may be the best man for the job of operating our government. That job is keeping America alive for posterity. It is a job...not a privilege, not a crown, not a reward, not a public relations marketing position....a job, work.

And a responsibility that calls on all aspects of wisdom and faith as he keeps this country safe and makes decisions that could cost the lives of our fathers, sons, husbands, wives, sisters, brothers, neighbors. It is a position that calls for much sober mindedness at all times. It is done as a duty of honor. I cannot imagine spending time on a golf course, or on a vacation on the beach while I was commanding military men putting their lives daily on the line for those freedoms. I would not be interested in giving "shout outs" to those who I might need to use someday, or want their support before I addressed the serious issue of the death of many of our brave soldiers in our own country. Also, those that live in the United States need to support our history and our Constitution. So that means that "Global" anything that would infringe on that support and loyalty is OUT! That's what "defend and support the US Constitution" means.

We now have elected officials ignoring their Constituents, ignoring the Constitution, and ignoring our Founding Fathers and their sacrifices made so that this nation might be the hope of the world. This is wrong and will lead to the downfall of this country.

As a voter, I have the responsibility to know who I am voting for. That requires me to do more than watch he/she get interviewed on Oprah. And with the many blessed ways we have today to instantly search out information,it is unacceptable to vote without true knowledge. Being poor is no excuse. Free libraries have computers and books, newspapers, and magazines that are there everyday for free use. Currently we elect people on what they say and how they look. Any idiot can do that. To truly cast a responsible vote, we must look at what they do, and who
they associate with. We cannot rely on party affliliation, and we cannot continue to vote for people simply because we recognize their name, or they promise to make our lives better and easier. No matter what promises are made, at the end of the day the only one who can make your life better is yourself. Even after electing a government representative, as a voter we have the responsibility to do our follow through and make sure he does what he promised to get us to vote for him. No politician should be allowed to make campaign promises, and then ignore them after elected. So we cannot get comfortable after we have voted. The process has to continue. And not only continue personally, but be taught to the next generation, and the next, and so on.

So, I send this out with one wish. That everyone who cares about America and believes in the hope American has stood for, takes the time to be responsible when casting a vote for the person who will carry out the amazing principals as outlined in our Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Our country is not in trouble now because of enforcement of the Constitutional laws, but because we have not enforced these laws. We have ignored them, and let the courts make up laws so that we could refer to Case Law instead of Constitutional Principals.

And those of you who think that re-distribution of wealth is the way to go, please be sure you read about how that has worked in other countries throughout history....The trouble with this philosophy is that it is always someone in power who wants the wealth re-distributed to himself. There are no unselfish governments who have their citizens best interest at heart. Anything run by humans will be imperfect.

I believe we have more than just representatives to change.....lobbyist, judges, lifetime appointments, term limits, states rights, education...but it may be a start. And if we don't make a start we will be making an ending.

May God be with us all!
