An American Farce in the Name of Making the Government Richer

Here are a few interesting numbers to put what taxing the rich really means, and where the  government has to get money to keep their extravagant lifestyle going. Borrowed from a friend, "Another way of looking at is the 2010 budget was 3.7 trillion dollars spent, or... 10 billion per day. According to the latest IRS data (2009), the number of households earning over 1 million dollars was 235,000 and had a total reported income of $730 billion. If Obama confiscates every penny from those people, that would only run the government for 73 days, just under two and a half months. So how is a 10% millionaire surtax going to do anything except fund the government for a whole week?

While we're at it, the total reported income of those earning $200,000 or more in 2009 was two trillion dollars. That is enough to run the government for 200 days, or until July 20th. What about the rest of the year? Well, the Fortune 500 companies reported total profits of $99 billion in 2009. Suppose we took all of it. That's another 99 days -- not enough to take Obama to the end of October. We still have two months to pay for, or $650 billion. Maybe the SEIU and the NEA could pitch in. But it would be much easier to go where the real money is -- those earning $50k and up for a total of $5.8 trillion in income. Now that is very workable."  Unless the Americans circumvent the government and media propaganda and vote in principled men, we will all be sleeping in cardboard boxes on public property.

The Dissatisfaction of Occupy Wall Street & Tea Party Americans

While watching Occupy Wall Street be chastised by conservative media and The Tea Party being chastised by both liberal and conservative media, I started wondering why so many Americans seem dissatisfied and restless.  We live in the greatest country on earth.  Americans have the largest number of people with the highest standard of living of all people on the planet. Yet, we seem to be dissatisfied.
With that said, we are not immune to the human frailty of thinking there is something better.  When fed by all  media and educators we come in contact with who constantly advocate that "all is not well" we fall into the thoughts they plant in our heads rather than thinking for ourselves.
I think I have mentioned before that the story of my family includes pioneers coming to Texas, and starting with nothing but their own abilities.  My great-grandfather spent much time in the Indian territory by what is now Limestone County in Texas.  They had to think for themselves and take care of themselves. They had no choice.  If they got into trouble, they turned to God, and neighbors. The government did not offer to send money, food, medical supplies, HUD housing, schools, or national guard to insure they made it.
But somewhere along the way, certain people said that being self-reliant is hard.  It would be much easier to  put a system in place that makes people look to the government for help instead of relying on themselves or neighbors.  AND, they would be so grateful, that they would to keep them in power, and these in power would get to make the rules for the dependents. And with the power, they could exploit these dependents so that the powerful could make all the money, and keep the dependents happy on State assistance.
I know this is a simplification, but the motivations of most men are simple.....power, money,or sometimes the salvation of their soul.  Problem with this plan is that those darn dependents want to live better, too. And so it goes.
Now, people look to the State for everything...food, shelter, insurance, healthcare, rules of how to be tolerant, charity, education, transportation.  And they don't want to just barely get by, they want the same as those in power have.  So those in power have to create crisis and villains.   No more belief that we can be self-reliant.  In fact, those that suggest we be self-reliant are said to be extremist.
The only way The United States of America can survive is for the people to realize that they do not need the State to take care of them.  If fact, the State needs to get out of the way.  People who have freedom will take care of themselves, but not only take care of themselves, they will thrive.
